Jammin' with the Doodlebops | $13
We're crazy for the Doodlebops! This spunky kids band is bright, colorful, and the songs are totally catchy. Last year, I must admit our entire family was somewhat obsessed after attending their fabulous live concert. We wish they were doing a US Tour again in 2009 as we'd love to go again. They've released this DVD & CD combo pack which is super as my kids love listening to the tunes while driving in the car along with obviously loving to dance & sing during the TV episodes. Classy Mommy Approved. More info from our preferred retailer.
Plain Tales Storytelling CD | $10
We recently received this Plain Tales First Tales story collection CD for review. My 3 year old loves it and listens again and again to "The Gingerbread Boy" as she is fascinated by that naughty little guy! Other featured stories include the Billy Goats Gruff and the Little Red Hen. And since Kenzie gets carsick - coloring and reading do not make our list of travel activities so we've been looking for a story CD for a long time - as you can only jam to the Wiggles so many times on a long road trip. As a parent, I feel really great about sharing these classic tales with the kids as well. Other CD story collections by Plain Tales include Fantasy, Literary, and Adventure Tales. We're definitely interested in purchasing another CD for upcoming summer road trips to the beach. Classy Mommy Approved. More info from our preferred retailer.
The Other Side of Me by Linda Eder | $12
Typically, I review children's music like Sesame Street Classics, the Wiggles or discuss just why you and your 2 year old might go crazy over the latest breakout children's band - the Imagination Movers - like my family and I sure did. But recently, I received some music just for me. Linda Eder's brand new breakout CD called The Other Side of Me. I'd classify it in the category of Country with a bit of Pop appeal. Think fiddles, guitars and lyrics that will leave you wanting more. I always can judge just how much I'll love a CD if I'm interested on the 1st listen even when it is unfamiliar. And I loved Linda Eder on the first listen. She reminds me of a Faith Hill or of Mary Chapin Carpenter whom my college roommate and I were crazy about during our college years. This busy Mom will be performing on tour with 4 shows this coming year and it looks like her move out of Broadway is sure to be a hit. Check my blog later this week as we'll be giving away an autographed copy of "The Other Side of Me." More info from our preferred retailer.
Imagination Movers Juice Box Heroes | $11
We love the Imagination Movers! When the kids are not in the car - I'm honestly listening to the CD! If the stars align for these folks, and it looks like they are with a TV show that just hit on September 6th, I think this band is the next Wiggles type phenomenon. The song lyrics are totally cool and cute at the same time. Songs that kids can relate to like - "Clean My Room", "What's in the Fridge", and I Want My Mommy". The Imagination Movers have what it takes to be true children's band rock stars as both the Parents and Kids love them.

Boca Beth Bilingual Backpack | $32
I love this product as it is a really simple way to introduce a second language to your toddlers and preschoolers. Kenzie adored the DVD, musical CD, coloring book, and puppet! My favorite item was the bilingual musical CD which introduces more than 100 words and 30 phrases in Spanish and English. I found this CD so cool as the songs were set to the beat of familiar "children's songs" (ie If Your Happy and You Know it etc.) After just listening to the CD twice, I caught Kenzie quietly playing with her dollhouse singing If You Want to Say Please Say Por Favor, If you want to say Thank You say Gracias! Too cute! Use code bocarocks to receive 20% off any CD or DVD and 10% off any language learning set. More info from our preferred retailer.
SoundSleep for Babies | $20
So far this audio CD is 5 for 5 at being the #1 soothing tool that ultimately lulls my wide eyed and ultra alert baby to sleep in the evenings. I admit I was skeptical about this CD, but figured I'd give it a go when I saw a rave review from James Cameron, Academy Award Winner for the movie Titanic. We call Kyle "The Bat" at our house since his most alert period seems to be right when I want him to settle down for a long night! With my daughter, the only time I didn't have to struggle to get her to sleep was in the evenings. With my new son, it is the opposite. Neither rocking nor a feeding put him to sleep at bedtime. I now incorporate this WombEffect music into his bedtime routine to assist him with falling asleep. What is SoundSleep? Basically, it is a breakthrough audio CD that is the first to use actual digital recordings of the intrauterine environment and combine it with a low-frequency ambient soundtrack. This is definitely Classy Mommy Approved thanks to the help of the newest addition to our product review team - 10 week old Baby Kyle! More info from our preferred retailer.
Juno | $8 | |
My words just will not do it justice. If you haven't seen Juno - please go see it -like yesterday! This movie is phenomenal, quirky, and touching. I liked it so much that I just orderd the catchy soundtrack to give me a Juno fix. It's been a top downloaded album off iTunes and I understand why - and so does my 2 year old! I'll be rooting for Ellen Page to win best actress and if you see this movie, I bet you will be too. Totally Classy Mommy approved! More info from our preferred retailer.
Rockabye Baby! Lullaby Renditions of U2 | $13
I just stumbled across this CD in a magazine gift guide and it is on my Christmas list for the new baby. This specific CD is a compilation of lullaby renditions of U2 songs. How cool is that? Rockabye Baby transforms timeless rock songs into instrumental lullabies. Other Rockabye CD options include: The Beatles, The Cure, Coldplay, Pink Floyd, Radiohead and many more! Kidz Bop 12 | $18
I've never listened to a Kidz Bop CD before, but this stuff is definitely cool for the toddlers and kids and totally bearable for us Parents as it is a compilation of cover songs of the latest pop songs we're currently enjoying on the radio. Kidz Bop 12 includes Kenzie's personal favorite and most requested tune from this past year - Gwen Stefani's "Sweet Escape". As soon as we get in the car she starts chiming "Hee Who" again and again as she requests this tune. Barefoot Books: Whole World | $15
Earth Day is fast approaching! Whole World, published by Barefoot Books, is the perfect way to celebrate our planet! This gorgeous hardcover book has incredible illustrations and comes with a catchy singalong CD. Even my 17 month old was loving the familiar tune we all grew up with! The end of the book offers some super tips for "Green Living". It's never too early to start sharing these important values with our younger generations! A percentage of sales from this title benefits global conservation too! More info from our preferred retailer.
Little Virtuoso | $17 | |
Classy Mommy's Mackenzie adored her test run of the Little Virtuoso DVD. Little Virtuoso is basically a music class on video that is intended to show children that music is everywhere in the world all around them. Christy gets viewers involved to clap, dance and jump along with her which my 16 month old readily participated on her first viewing! This is far better than just watching images on TV! What really makes Little Virtuoso a special value is you also get a companion music CD with your "music class" style DVD so you can reinforce the music in the car or anytime you'd like. Name Your Tune | $20
Looking for a gift idea for a toddler? Try a Name Your Tune CD. It is marvelous! Mackenzie received this personalized "name" CD as a 1st Birthday gift. This CD is a huge hit in our car. Her name appears more than 80 times in 14 recognizable and fun children's songs she already knows like Old MacDonald, Wheels on the Bus, and If your Happy and you Know it. My favorite song is Head and Shoulders which is song in a heavily accented voice. The owner of Name Your Tune confirmed to me that this voice is really no "accent" at all - it is just meant to entertain! There are over 1400 names to choose from and they also let you personalize the CD cover with a greeting to turn this musical gift into a keepsake. $20 each or 2 for $36.
