Week 37 Pregnancy Update
Today I am 37 weeks and 1 day pregnant. Mackenzie came at 36 weeks and 2 days. I could still be pregnant for almost another month - which will feel v. long! However, I had an appointment today - the latest news is that the doctor "thinks" I'll be having the baby any day now - she said she thought it would be a Thanksgiving baby based on her exam!
I'm between 1-2 CM dilated, 75% effaced, and she could actually touch and feel the baby boy's head as it is at ZERO station. This did not surprise me as I could tell the head had dropped even lower in the past few days - walking and sitting are difficult now as I can tell the head is engaged totally in my pelvis. The zero station was what impressed the doctor the most and made her think labor was imminent..... we'll see what happens and keep you all posted!

Tracy Gallagher's Trips and Tips
Tracy Gallagher's Trips and Tips
-by Mom, Travel Channel Co-Host, and Guest Author at Hanes.com/Kids Tracy Gallagher
On what’s going on….
My family travel show “Are We There Yet” aired recently on the Travel Channel, and I just wrapped production on a kids’ party show for Fine Living. I am also currently working on a family travel book and wrote an article on Family Travel for Hanes.com/kids.
On planning family travel….
Do it! Think out of the box when it comes to destinations…challenge yourself beyond going to Hawaii or Disneyland. Of course, those are fabulous destinations, but mix it up a bit and the rewards will be worth the extra effort usually.
Use the internet! Sites like Hanes.com/kids aren’t just for shopping; they give all sorts of packing lists to help you prepare ahead of time.
Also – plan time in the day to relax. As adults we try to pack in all the sightseeing – with kids it is better to let them choose one thing in the day and then have some rest.
I could go on and on, but it’s best to look for my shows or book! J
On the road…
Encourage your kids to layer up so they’re not only comfortable, they’re ready for any extreme temperature, from air-conditioned airplanes to the over-heated backseat of a car. Hanes is my “go to” brand for comfort and durability…. just the right amount of comfort and style. Soft and tagless, these pieces are life-savers in ridding our travels of in-seat squirming.
I also always pack an extra t-shirt and pair of pants if I can – depending on how much room you have in your carry-on, and how many items airlines these days let you carry! That way when kids spill, or get dirty (and believe me, they will!) you have the items you need to change their clothes, yet keep them comfortable.
On keeping the kids entertained…
For road trips, we have found that music is a great way to bring the family together. The kids spend much time listening to the music and singing along with us…and sometimes we talk about the songs!
Get your child excited for the destination and Thanksgiving. One of my favorite tips (especially when space is an issue like on an airplane) is to create customized travel ‘survival kits’ for each of my children. Grab an old paper bag from the grocery store, put their name on it and fill it with all sorts of age-appropriate and festive goodies to keep them occupied
On warding off homesickness….
Encourage your kids to bring something on the trip that reminds them of home; a pillow, blanket, doll, picture, etc. Children love routine and the security of their favorite “lovey,” so they’ll feel at ease on the road with a piece of home within arm’s reach.
On personal fun family travel anecdotes….
Over the past summer holiday, we thought we would spend time in the great outdoors with our three kids. We rented a Winnebago and took to the mountains. We hadn’t even been on the road an hour, when we got a flat tire! It took an extra four hours to find anyone who had the correct tools to change a tire the size of these RV tires! Keeping the kids occupied was a challenge – luckily we were with another family – it just shows you, sometimes the things that go wrong are funny when looking back on it.
On how the Internet is affecting parenting…
The internet has helped me tremendously – many times I have used it to help keep my kids stay healthy. I don’t necessarily diagnose them on the internet, but by researching any symptoms I am much more equipped to ask my doctor the important questions, and make sure he or she doesn’t miss anything. My youngest son was recently bit by a bunch of fire ants on a weekend, so I checked on the internet how to treat the bites.
It is also a wonderful tool for getting great ideas for crafts, birthday parties, etc. And then, the best part, shopping for my family on the internet saves me so much time – and sometimes money! For us busy moms, it is a life saver.
Finally, it is also a source of good laughs…a reminder that in the busy days of parenting, it is healthy to keep a sense of humor, Moms can bond together on website communities, trade stories…or download funny parenting clips and share them with friends.
On parenting advice…
I’m still looking for it. I could use some!
On topics concerning moms…
Managing schedules in multi-children families…the homework load…the dangers being publicized about plastics and toys from China.
On favorite sites….
Hanes.com/kids….webmd.com…about.com…for natural health: mercola.com…greatschools.net…gocitykids.com…familytravelnetwork.com
On what’s coming up….
My upcoming book, “Have Children STILL Travel!” and in the beginning of 2008 “Cool Kids Parties” will air on the Fine Living Channel.

Classy Mommy Giveaway: Ah Goo Baby's Plush Pad
I had the chance to review this genius item from Ah Goo Baby a few month ago..... I loved it! You can see my review below - and you can be sure I"ll be using their hip Camo pattern for my new baby boy when he arrives later this month!
My latest favorite portable diaper changing pad is the Plush Pad by Ah Goo Baby. This pad is so plush you'll wish you had one for yourself and not just for baby! Opens to a perfect 2 ft x 2 ft square allowing wiggle room for baby (and still conforms to public changing facilities and airplanes unlike the round pads out there!)Machine washable and water-repellent. The ultra plush pad and memory foam is not cold, hard, and sticky like many other portable pads out there or from your diaper bag. Lots of color ways to choose from - my personal favorite is their hip Camo pattern.
Contest entries must be received by Nov 16th, 2007. Email colleen@classymommy.com to enter. Please include your address and title the subject of the email PLUSH PAD.

Welcome to the Classy Mommy Cyber Baby Shower!

I’m thrilled to announce that the Classy Mommy Cyber Baby Shower has raised $685 for Project Peanut Butter! Thanks to the support of all the wonderful businesses that have contributed a donation as part of their gift to Classy Mommy. For every $10 raised, a malnourished child can be treated at home for nearly 3 weeks on Project Peanut Butter’s special therapeutic peanut butter paste. So thanks to everyone for helping us make a difference!
I want to send a special shout out to Neat Solutions Inc., the makers of the very necessary Table Toppers place mats that just about every Mom uses during the toddler years and a product I could NOT live without. They made a very generous $100 contribution to Project Peanut Butter!
Let’s get the party started!

Click here to see the list of PRIZES!!!
GAME # 1
If you want your 1st pick of the prizes – let us know in your comment or blog party post how long the labor and delivery of your 1st baby took! The quickest labor and delivery will win!
(This time frame is near and dear to my heart as I am having incredible anxiety about how long Round # 2 will take me. I pray I make it to the hospital and realize I am in active labor. I'm sure it will be fine but I am still nervous! My daughter arrived fast and furiously. Total natural childbirth. I had hoped and planned for a natural birth - albeit I never imagined it to be without a choice! Start to finish was 4 hours. That included my water breaking at home, getting checked 1 hour later at the hospital and only being 1 cm. I went from 1-10 in less than 3 hours! I realize there is a good chance I won't realize I'm in labor until I hit transition of 7-10 cm unless my water breaks again…..)
Game # 2
If you want the 2nd pick of the prizes – Show us a picture of your Belly Bump –the "Best" Bump will win! You'll be posting this on your blog!
Game # 3
If you want the 3rd pick of the prizes, Submit a photo of your Babies Nursery. The "Best" Nursery Photo will win. You'll be posting this on your blog too!
Here is a small photo of the new baby boy's nursery. We don't really have an official theme - although I did add some fun Melissa & Doug jungle animals to liven things up a bit. My furniture is from a collection called Westwood Designs and it is a basic dark walnut color - and we have blinds to match. Our bedding, curtains, and receiving blankets all come from the Babylicious Groovy Blue line which I adore! Babylicious has the cutest and most affordable whimsical and modern bedding options for both the little girls and the little boys! The best part is that they all sell all kinds of trendy accessories to match - bibs, burps, sleep sacks, blankets, and more!
If you want the 4th pick of the prizes, The Biggest Baby will win! This can be a comment with stats or a photo on your blog along with Stats.
at just 6 lbs even. She is now a pretty big girl - about 85% for both height and weight! It is funny because she started out so tiny and I am on the short and petite side! I'll be anxious to see what this little boy will weigh!
Neat Solutions Inc. Gift Basket sent us a plethora of essential goodies. Multiple packages of Table Toppers, a set of 4 Toppers to Go (on the go pre-packed sippy cup, utensils, bib, and a table topper placemat for meals on the go!), shopper toppers, changing table toppers and more!
Little Stork Delivery Bag
I’ve been packed and ready to go to the hospital since 33 weeks when the baby fully dropped and I could tell that my contractions were altering and beginning to dilate me. Obviously, “Baby Boy” is still hanging in there. I was 1 cm at 34 weeks (haven't been checked since) as of today I’m 35 weeks and 5 days. I made it to 36 weeks 2 days with my daughter – so we’ll see what happens!
Luckily, I don’t have to worry about exactly what is in my bag –as this bag even includes a camera - since Little Stork has done it all for me. Celebs love this bag – and now that I’ve got my own bag I feel like I’m getting a taste of what life is like as a celeb that has someone else prep everything for them. This glam “delivery” bag includes all of your labor and delivery and hospital stay essentials.
